The Ministry of MSMEs has chosen the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) in Berhampur and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Orissa besides 22 other reputed institutes to fulfil its goal of setting up well-equipped incubators for small-scale entrepreneurs.

"Selection by the MSME Ministry alongside institutes of national repute such as the IITs and IIMs is a matter of great pride and honour. Incubators will provide entrepreneurial development support to businesses existing in Orissa," said Shradhanjali Nayak, senior officer engaged with KIIT University.

Both NSIT and KIIT will extend the requisite infrastructural facilities and consultancy as well as marketing support to boost entrepreneurship in Orissa. An Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) has already been set up by NSIT within the campus.

"Extension of marketing as well as financial assistance will help SME entrepreneurs to enhance their competitive edge and realise their long-term objectives," said Mritunojoy Suar, CEO of KIIT technology business incubator.

A sum of Rs 2.65 crore has already been allocated by the MSME Ministry for facilitating easy establishment of incubators and paving way for the sector's higher growth.
