The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has released a joint study titled 'The Gujarat vision: Making MSMEs globally competitive'in order to throw more light on the sector. The study reviews the manner in which MSMEs in Gujarat are rapidly evolving as several big-ticket investments are being undertaken by both public and private sector units in the state.

The report largely focuses on two key themes that include priorities for the Gujarat MSME sector and chief recommendations for its development. It highlights the current scenario of MSMEs in the state, emphasises the significance of the sector and the state's vision for them.
"The report on Gujarat's vision to make MSMEs globally competitive can serve as a guiding factor for small-scale units in the region, thereby helping them to achieve the desired targets," said a senior government official.
Besides highlighting the state's vision for the MSME sector, the study also brings to light the fundamental challenges being faced by the sectorwith regard to credit availability, market accessibility and market orientation.
